AMC Theaters open, AMC Theater, probably the king of meme stocks, promised in August that before the end of the year, you’d be able to pay for tickets and refreshments using Bitcoin, and now you can, actually, this AMC theaters stocks is gonna be cool.
According to a tweet from CEO Adam Aron, AMC will take Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin for online purchases in addition to Bitcoin (via CoinTelegraph). He also claims that Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal may be used to make payments online.

It’s worth noting that Aron only mentions payment methods for online sales; it doesn’t appear that bitcoin may be used to purchase anything in a theater. Aron also claims that the new payment methods “already account for 14 percent of our total online transactions,” but it’s unclear whether that figure includes cryptocurrency or all of the ways listed in his tweet. AMC did not respond to a request for comment right away.
Because I don’t hold bitcoin, I can’t directly verify how to utilize it with AMC to make purchases online. However, PayPal is featured as a payment method on AMC’s website, with the note that it “supports cryptocurrency.” To pay for tickets or concessions, you’ll probably have to check in with your PayPal account and select any cryptocurrency that’s available there. For the time being, PayPal appears to be the only way to pay using cryptocurrencies at AMC, so if you prefer a different method, you may be out of luck.
And what if you’d like to pay in Dogecoin? That’s “next,” according to Aron. The Shiba Inu coin is also being investigated by the corporation.
