Samsung Galaxy S22+: A Wide Improvement Over It Predecessors

The Galaxy S22+ is designed for people who want a premium Android phone that excels at almost everything and is comfortable with Samsung's exclusive software interface.

The Samsung Galaxy S22+ is the definition of an incremental improvement. It looks and functions similarly to its predecessor, to the point that I find it pretty hard to tell this phone apart from the Galaxy S21 Plus

The Galaxy S22+ is designed for people who want a premium Android phone that excels at almost everything and is comfortable with Samsung’s exclusive software interface.

The Galaxy S22+ is one of the most appealing smartphones I’ve ever reviewed, with a clean, elegant design that even outperforms the more expensive S22 Ultra in some important ways.

The phone’s glass-and-metal construction is an improvement over the semi-plastic S21+. With its improved camera and display, the Galaxy S22+ is a powerhouse within the Android market. And for $999, it’s not a bad investment.

Examining Its Premium Features

Performance

Once it comes to performance, the Samsung Galaxy S22+ has two dispositions: in most of the world, it is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, while in Europe, it is equipped with Samsung’s Exynos 2200. In terms of performance, both are essentially comparable, albeit Qualcomm’s CPU has a little advantage over Samsung’s Exynos.

The Galaxy S22+ is powered by Android 12 wrapped in One UI 4, a unique interface that offers the phone a distinctively Samsung appearance and feels.

It’s also important to note that Samsung guarantees four years of software updates for the Galaxy S22 series, implying that those who purchase one will have access to the most recent Android features and security patches for a long time.

Design and Build

Beyond color, the S22+ features a design that doesn’t interfere with what works. It has a 6.6-inch Gorilla Glass Victus+ screen and flat edges wrapped in Armor Aluminum, which gives the phone’s sides a glossy shine.

Aside from that, this is a conventional Android phone. There is a USB-C port but no 3.5mm headphone connector, and the power and volume controls are on the right-hand side.

The material differs from that of the S21 Plus in that, although that device was made of plastic, this one is made of glass, specifically Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Plus, which is a more durable form of the material. This implies that it is scratch-resistant and will not shatter after a single drop. There’s also IP68 dust and water resistance, so the gadget can withstand a brief dip in the water.

Display

The screen is 6.6 inches across, which is 0.1 inches smaller than the S21 Plus’, and is divided by a tiny punch-hole cutout for the front camera. The bezel around the display is rather thin.

With a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 (or FHD+), the S22+ has as much resolution as most other Android phones with the exception of super-cheap or super-expensive phones and based on its pricing, we’d assume the Plus falls into the latter group. The screen on the Ultra has a resolution of 1440 x 3088, and we would have loved to see something comparable here.

FHD+ is sufficient for most activities, as just a few streaming services or games offer content in higher resolutions. A refresh rate of 120Hz ensures that action is seamless whether scrolling between menus or playing games.

Camera

The S22+ has a 10 MP selfie camera on the front, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, a 50 MP wide-angle camera, and a 10 MP telephoto camera on the rear. I believe the overall crisp effect that I found myself raving about is due to the mega-detailed wide-angle camera. This year’s primary sensor, according to Samsung, is bigger, allowing more light in. In principle, this should result in better nighttime photography.

Battery

In terms of power, the Galaxy S22+ has a 4,500 mAh battery. That’s less than the 4,800 mAh battery found in the Galaxy S21 Plus, which is surprising given the S22+ predecessor’s poor battery life. I’m still puzzled as to why Samsung chose a lesser battery this year. Perhaps it hoped that the more power-efficient display and 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU would compensate for the 300 mAh reduction.

Pricing

The Galaxy S22+ is now available for purchase, with prices beginning at $999 or starts from GHS. 6,347 to GHS. 7,039. It is available in black, white, green, and pink gold, with graphite, cream, sky blue, and violet available only online.

Is The Galaxy S22+ a Worthy Upgrade?

The Galaxy S22+ keeps everything that was wonderful about the Galaxy S21 while making some minor but welcome enhancements. The design is better than ever, the cameras are incredible, and the display remains one of the most colorful and immersive you can find on a smartphone. They’re also among the fastest phones we’ve seen, and they support the most recent 5G standards, so they’ll last you at least a few years. So Yes! If you are not on a tight budget, you should consider upgrading to the Galaxy S22+.

Final Words

The Galaxy S22 Plus is a fantastic phone with a great deal of flexibility and cameras that are more than enough in most conditions.

In actuality, the S22 Plus differs from its predecessor only in terms of display. That 1,750 nits come in useful while you’re out and about. The S22 Plus is essentially similar to the 21 Plus, but with a more efficient display and a smaller power pack.

However, if you’re already using a Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20, or anything older, the Galaxy S22 Plus is a fantastic improvement. It’s strong, it’s gorgeous, and if you’re coming from a prior generation, you’ll be blown away by this display.
